If you’re a small business owner who decided to get a video of your business, then congratulations! You are ahead of the curve.

Adding video to your website will:

  • Improve your Google rank
  • Turn your visitors to customers
  • Increase sales from your marketing spend

With the recent launch of LinkedIn video ads along with YouTube making a huge push for its own ad platform, small businesses can utilize online video advertising at a fraction of the cost of traditional television advertising.
Make Small Business Video Stand Out
How does a small business take advantage of the new video advertising platforms with a video that actually produces results?

Out of the 50,000+ videos we’ve created, we’ll share some of our favorite small business videos and their secret to standing out.

Show Personality

Don’t be afraid to show a little personality in your small business video. If your customers know you to be a little “wacky” or “unique” then don’t hide those traits when the camera is on.

If you’ve ever been on camera you know it’s a little weird talking to a lens. Here’s a simple tip: look at your filmmaker. Tell him/her to ask you the questions that will lead you into your narration of the video.

Take a look at the Let It Ride video below; these guys weren’t afraid to show a little pizzazz and it made for one entertaining video.

Tell a Story

Steve Jobs is famous for turning his presentations into memorable stories. Carmine Gallo, author of The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs, states that “the single most important thing to dramatically improve your presentation is to have a story to tell…” Samir and his team at Used Tires Express did just that with the help of SmartShoot filmmaker, Smith Glover. See how they turned a video about a used tire shop into a romantic comedy.

Go Hollywood

Going Hollywood doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to produce a hundred million dollar video project. It means that you can add simple cinematic effects that separate your video from the rest of the crowd.

Filmmaker Humberto Hernandez did a great job on the video for the folks at Service First Air Conditioning & Heating by getting some great shots and adding a little Hollywood flare to the video. Two thumbs up!

Focus on Key Differentiators

What makes your small business different from your competitors? Use your video to really highlight your key differentiators. Not exactly sure what they are? Ask your customers! They can tell you exactly why they LOVE coming to your business. Take a look at the video for Wild Bites where the customers rave about the food and the owner, Tony Ortu.

Get Animated

We’ve all seen those animated videos from our favorite start-up. But if you’re working on a small business budget, then you likely don’t have the $3,000-$5,000 needed to produce a high-quality animation.

One simple trick is to use photos and screen captures of your website along with simple transitions to give your small business video that animated look.

Here’s a great example we produced for
